Yesterday was an interesting day in sports as more spots in the NCAA’s March Madness Tournament were clinched. There was also a crazy ending in an NBA game. Let’s go ahead and fill you in on what you might have missed in yesterday’s scores.

NBA

The Phoenix Suns beat the New Orleans Pelicans in overtime following a timeout blunder by Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry who called a timeout when he had none remaining which resulted in a technical foul and a game-winning free throw. The Oklahoma City Thunder had insult added to injury following a technical foul by Russell Westbrook, his 16th of the season, which means he’ll be suspended for their next game in the team’s loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Denver Nuggets overcame the ejection of star man Nikola Jovic as they narrowly topped the Indiana Pacers at home.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ hopes for a playoff spot have dwindled significantly, and tonight’s loss to the Detroit Pistons only makes the task tougher. The Milwaukee Bucks overcame a 20-point halftime deficit against the Miami Heat en route to another victory. In a later game, the Houston Rockets narrowly survived at home against the Phoenix Suns.

LB CJ Mosley is expected to sign a 5 year/$85 million contract with the Jets.

LB Terrell Suggs will sign a 1 year/$7 million deal with the Cardinals.

S Adrian Amos agrees to a 4 year/$37 million deal with the Packers.

LB Anthony Barr has decided to back out of a verbal deal with the Jets and will remain with the Vikings. He will sign a contract for 5 years, worth $67.5 million.

LB Jordan Hicks will join the Cardinals. He will sign a contract for 4 years, worth $36 million.

Long time Dolphin DE Cameron Wake will sign a 3 year/$23 million deal with the Titans.

The Kansas City Chiefs are trading LB Dee Ford to the San Francisco 49ers for their 2020 2nd-round draft pick. Ford will sign a contract extension with the 49ers for 5 years/$87.5 million.

RB Le’Veon Bell has finally selected the team he will be playing for in 2019 after sitting out the 2018 season due to contract disputes with the Steelers. He plans to sign with the Jets for 4 years/$52.5 million.

The biggest trade of the NFL offseason thus far has sent the NFL fan base into a frenzy. The New York Giants have traded All-Pro WR Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns will trade S Jabrill Peppers, their 2019 1st-round draft pick (No. 17 overall), as well as their second pick in the 3rd round (No. 95 overall). Beckham will bring along his massive 5 year/$90 million contract extension with him to Cleveland.

Yesterday was full of games as the international soccer leagues started early and basketball and baseball occupied the remaining hours of the day. There was no major sports news, but it was still a day full of close contests and interesting results.

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their worst home loss of the season when they lost by 15 points to the Portland Trail Blazers. The biggest surprise of the night was the Boston Celtics loss to the Chicago Bulls who were led by a career night by Zack LeVine who scored a career-high 42 points. The Houston Rockets also took down the Golden State Warriors despite being without star man James Harden.
